Jennifer Yuh Nelson's 2016 film "Kung Fu Panda 3" moves its release date to give way for Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."
"Kung Fu Panda 3" has advanced its release date from the initial date Mar. 18, 2016 to Jan. 29, 2016, as per The Wrap.
Prior to having March as its release, the animated action-adventure film was originally set to premiere on Dec. 23; however, it was adjusted since "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" marks a Dec. 18 release.
A possible reason why "Kung Fu Panda 3" moved its release in January next year is that it is an "off-peak" month, as per Cinema Blend.
Last year, Tim Story's action-comedy film "Ride Along" and Peter Lepeniotis' animated film "The Nut Job" had success in their January release. They have developed their sequels, which are set to premiere on Jan. 25, 2016.
The predecessors of the animated film were a big hit in the previous years with 2008's "Kung Fu Panda" grossing an estimate of $631 million worldwide and 2011's "Kung Fu Panda 2" gaining a higher estimated worldwide gross of $665 million.
"Kung Fu Panda 3" continuous Po's legendary adventures of "awesomeness," in which he faces a supernatural entity and somebody close to him as his two epic threats.
The film stars the voices of Jack Black as Po, Angelina Jolie as Tigress, Dustin Hoffman as Shifu, Lucy Liu as Viper, Seth Rogen, Jackie Chan as Mantis, David Cross as Crane, James Hong as Mr. Ping, and Bryan Cranston as Po's Father. Rebel Wilson, Mads Mikkelsen, and J.K. Simmons are part of the supporting cast.
Jennifer Yuh and Alessandro Carloni are set to helm the film, along with Melissa Cobb, Gullermo del Toro, and Jeff Hermann as their co-producers. Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger are on board to pen the screenplay.
The film will be distributed by 20th Century Fox, with Dreamworks Animation and Oriental Dreamworks in charge of supervising the production.
