Shanghai-based Star China is currently boosting its TV programming and part of this campaign is their recent purchase of “Infinite Challenge,” a Korean variety entertainment format.

A weekly variety program, "Infinite Challenge" is regarded as Korean TV's first "real variety" show. The Korean television network MBC distributes the show.

In the unscripted comedy show, a team composed of six comedians takes various challenges, which are often trivial and unachievable, making the format a satirical show.

"We are confident that this unique show will be a hit in China. We have a strong history of creating and producing the country's top-rated formats, such as 'The Voice of China' and 'Sing My Song,'" shared Vivian Yin, Star China's chief representative.

Yin, also the vice president of Starry Productions, is looking forward to take "'Infinite Challenge' to that level."

Recently, the program was showcased at the MIPFormats conference in Cannes.

"Infinite Challenge" is a top-rating Saturday evening program in South Korea. The program was first aired in 2005.

In Jan. 2014, the 21st Century Fox sold its 47-percent stake in Star China to the firm's private equity fund, China Media Capital, and management team.

Star China TV has three channels, which cover Hong Kong-, Macau-, and Southeast Asia-based Chinese speaking viewers. The company's flagship programs include "Amazing Chinese," "You Think You Can Dance," "China's Got Talent" and "The Voice of China."

Last year, Star China teamed up with CCTV 3 and released "Sing My Song," the first original, native Chinese format. The breakthrough show pulled off a total season viewership of 490 million.
