Mackenzie Moretter invited her schoolmates to her 10th birthday party and not one of them said yes, according to ABC News.
The Minnesota girl suffers from an uncommon genetic disorder called Sotos syndrome and her parents said that the condition makes it difficult for Mackenzie to make friends. According to Genetics Home Reference, sotos syndrome is a disorder that causes physical overgrowth during the first years of life.
After none of her classmates RSVP'd yes, the girl's mother, Jenny Moretter, decided to post an invitation to Facebook, asking girls around Mackenzie's age to attend the party.
Mackenzie's mother said that she initially invited 10 girls three weeks in advance, but they received two cancellations and the other girls' mothers did not RSVP at all.
When people heard Mackenzie's story, hundreds of people, even big names like Elsa and Snoopy, showed up.
Jenny Moretter said that there was a DJ, a bubble machine where children could run through, and local businesses donated food. She further said that she was surprised at how fast the community pulled together this big birthday party in less than 24 hours.
She added that a few of the original 10 girls invited really stopped by to say sorry and wish Mackenzie a happy birthday. Some of the people traveled from Wisconsin to attend the young girl's birthday party. According to Mackenzie, this was the best birthday of her life.
Jenny said that she only want people to know they should accept their kids for who they are. She further said that for children who see other children alone, she would like to encourage them to go say hello and not make fun of them. She hopes that parents educate their kids more and that this can be a learning project for everyone.
