Sami Brady is headed back to Salem City. "Days of Our Lives" (DOOL) star Alison Sweeney has confirmed the return of her beloved character to the show. She will appear with a slew of original characters in the 50th anniversary special segment airing this year.

Rumours about Sweeney's return have been swirling around for a long time now. But the soap opera veteran confirmed the news only three days ago. Sweeney, who portrayed the role of Samantha Brady for almost 21 years, took to Instagram to make the big announcement of her return to the show.

Sweeney posted a picture of her holding "Days of Our Lives" (DOOL) on Instagram. She captioned the picture: "Guess what?! I get to be a part of celebrating#days50 !!! So thrilled!!!"

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Sweeney said that she was "very excited" to see "Days" script with her name on it. She seems very happy and is glad that the show will complete 50 years. "I can't wait to play a part in honoring such an important milestone," the actress told the aforementioned publication.

 While details of her characters storyline for 50th anniversary special remain unknown, fans know that Sweeney will be joining Peter Reckell (Bo Brady), Stephen Nichols (Steve Johnson) and Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe Lane) for the segment marking golden jubilee for the show.
