Peanut Farm Bar in Alaska is starting a state funded project in which the pub will be putting free pregnancy tests in the washrooms. This is an attempt to raise awareness about the fetal alcohol syndrome and prevent it from taking place. This is one of the most commonly found disorders found in the city and the state wants to eradicate it.

Drinking alcohol during the duration of pregnancy can cause numerous lifelong problems for the child, according to The Washington Post. The poster which is put up on the walls of these bathrooms asks the test taker regarding the last time they drank and when was the last time they had sex, according to Alaska Public Media. The poster also urges them to use the pregnancy test dispenser which is affixed to the poster.

This is one of the few bars in Alaska to start this unique and healthy initiative of offering free pregnancy tests. It is a part of the two year state funded pilot project and is being conducted under the University of Alaska Anchorage.

It currently draws up to $400,000 worth of funds and can be used to attract huge benefits on the social services for the common people, who show the risk of fetal alcohol syndrome. This is of an urgent attention as more than 120 children in Alaska are born with this syndrome every year.

This is just a pilot program and if shows good potential, it can draw beneficiaries to further the entire initiative.
