"Booty" hit maker Jennifer Lopez will live in Las Vegas. The singer and actress announced on Tuesday night's semi-final episode of "American Idol" that she would begin a residency in the city's Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in 2016.

"So excited!!! This is going to be the show I've always dreamed of creating," wrote the "American Idol" judge to caption the video message she uploaded on Instagram to announce her new venture. The announcement came a day after the Fox's decision to pull the plug on the reality singing show.

The singer will be performing live on her biggest hits starting from Jan. 20, 2016. She is scheduled to perform 20 two-hour shows with the last show decided to be on June 12 next year. As Lopez declared to People, the multi-faceted Las Vegas shows will give her an opportunity to craft a concert experience which  she had never been able to bring out in touring shows.

With the announcement, the singer has joined Britney Spears and Mariah Carey in the recent residency trend. While Spears' residency is running in Planet Hollywood since 2013, Carey has just debuted with her first show happened over the weekend.
 
Meanwhile, rumours are rife that Lopez is set to get engaged to her longtime on-and-off boyfriend, Casper Smart. The couple was last spotted at MGM Grand Garden Arena for  the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Manny Pacquiao fight on May 2. Later, the couple enjoyed a romantic dinner at Hakkasan in MGM Grand, Las Vegas Sun reported.
 
Las Vegas is no strange land to the multi-talented Lopez who was regularly spotted here with her ex-boyfriend Ben Affleck. The former couple was well known for they were known for gaming late into nights at the Mirage.
