Cannes Film Festival started with a bang on May 13 with one of the most glamorous opening to date. Naomi Watts, Natalie Portman, Lupita Nyong'O, Fan Bingbing and Katrina Kaif, put their best foot forward and dazzled on the red carpet.

The first day of the festival saw Hollywood stars in their Haute Couture posing on the red carpet. The most talked about dress undoubtedly so far was worn by Nyong'O. The actress, whose pearl studded gown got infamously stolen from her hotel room after the Oscars event,  chose a green-clored Gucci gown for this event.

Chinese actress Bingbing turned several heads with her Ralph Russo Couture and Chopard jewels. The famous Asian star of "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" attended the opening ceremony and premiere of "La Tete Haute," Fashion And Style reported.

On the other hand, Oscar winning actress Julianne Moore and Naomi Watts added a featherly touch to the festival by their equaly dramatic gowns. While the 54-year-old actress looked flawless in  classy black Armani Privé gown complet with netted sequin-type wrapover giving a feathered effect, Watts bedazzled on red carpet in  silver-grey Elie Saab dress with an incredibly low cleavage baring cut and full feathered dress, Daily Mail reported.

The 68th annual film festival is spearheaded by the Coen brothers and includes Sienna Miller and Jake Gyllenhaal among other Hollywood moguls. French actor Lambert Wilson will be hosting the opening and closing ceremony. This year, the poster of the festival pays tribute to Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman for her contributions to films and theatre.
