"Grey's Anatomy" star Camilla Luddington, who plays the role of Jo, recently weighed in on what the future holds for Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Alex (Justin Chambers) and her character in the upcoming 12th season of the hit ABC series.

According to the actress, Jo will become most understanding of Meredith and Alex's relationship, especially now that Meredith has to deal with the loss of her husband, Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey).

"Jo really respects Meredith and losing Derek means that Jo relates to that feeling of not having people in your life that give you stability and love. She only has respect for Meredith..." Luddington told The Hollywood Reporter.

The actress also talked about how she thinks Alex will be able to handle two women and whether or not this could impact Jo's relationship with him negatively.

According to Luddington, Jo will perfectly understand that Alex's time and effort will be divided between Meredith and her and this will not affect their relationship especially now that they already have their own house.

Meanwhile, thousands of fans are wondering whether or not Jo and Alex will be engaged in season 12, most especially after they exchanged their "I love you's" during last season's finale episode, Design N Trend reported.

Luddington said that an engagement could potentially be a thing for the onscreen couple but as of late, she does not know yet whether or not this would happen.

"I feel like if they are going to continue in this direction, that would be nice if they got married and at some point down the line have some kids," she said.
