 "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 won't premiere until later this year. However, fans are growing eager to know what's next for their favourite characters. Meanwhile, spoilers and possible plot details are swirling around hinting at what to expect when the ABC's long running medical drama returns. Read on to find out the details.

Fans know that "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 will focus on post-Derek Shepherd era. Fans can expect to see some new drama in Meredith's life. Meanwhile, rampant speculations suggest that the next season will shift its focus from Meredith's married life (since Derek is gone) to her health.

According to Zap2it, "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 will possibly deal with Meredith's fear of early onset of Alzheimer's disease. This storyline is speculated to emerge this season and Meredith will begin to feel the effects of the disease that she acquires from her mother, Ellis.

Per the website, this storyline is being built since Season 1. Derek commenced the clinical trial for the disease in Season 7. As for Meredith, she took the test in Season 9 and she was tested positive for Alzheimer's disease.

Meanwhile, Meredith will move in with Alex and Jo. And spoilers swirling around suggest that Jo will gradually adjust with Meredith and Alex's friendship and her presence in their life. In the meantime, fans can expect to see Jo and Alex take their relationship to the next level.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Camilla Luddington, who plays the role of Jo, revealed that "I think Jo and Alex are moving in a very similar pace within their relationship."

"I don't think Jo is wanting to have kids immediately; she's not expecting to get a ring. If it happens at this point, I'm sure she would say yes because obviously she's crazy about him," the actress continues. But she would reportedly like to see Jolex engaged by the end of Season 12.

In the meantime, Arizona Robbins will be seen moving on from ex-wife Callie in Season 12. Fans can also expect to see her find new love interest. Entertainment news publication TV Line claims that "Grey's Anatomy" star Jessica Capshaw, who plays Arizona Robbins, revealed that "big things will happen for her." Meanwhile, the former couple Arizona and Callie is now "moving toward a place where they can actually broach subjects that are tough for ex-wives."

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 11 ended with a major cliffhanger involving April and Jackson. Fans saw that April wants to continue her work at the camp. But Jackson gave her an ultimatum. Fans were left wondering if Japril is over. Actress Sarah Drew, who plays the role of April Kepner, told Entertainment Weekly that they haven't "actually broken up." She said the ultimatum gives them "a room to figure out what's going to happen next season." And the next season, will see what April decides to do and how it will impact their relationship.

As for the show's creator Shonda Rhimes, she is yet to address the question regarding Season 12's possible storyline. "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 is expected to premiere in September, 2015.
