2K Sports, a division of 2K Games, recently announced that "NBA 2K16" will be officially released on Oct. 27. The game was confirmed to be released on the console platform with plans for future release on the PC and mobile platform.
According to Gospel Herald, the game will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles. Although it was confirmed that the PC and mobile platform versions will follow, the game's developer did not confirm the official release date.
"NBA 2K16" will be the 17th installment of the series which was first released in 1999. Rumors began circulating that a new "NBA 2K" game is under development after Take Two InteractiveA, the games developers, hinted about it during the company's fourth quarter and year-end revenue report.
According to Polygon, Oscar-nominated director Spike Lee is working with "NBA 2K16" developers in designing the game's career mode. The report also leaked the upcoming game's official cover. Based on the leaked images, the upcoming "NBA 2K16" will have three cover variants individually featuring Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry, Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden and Oklahoma City Thunders forward Kevin Durant.
2K released several "NBA2K16" locker codes before the game's official release. The codes will give VC (Virtual Currency) points which in turn can be used to unlock in-game upgrades as well as new playable teams and players.
Among the locker codes released by 2K were IWATCHEDNBA2KTV and PARKSWAG which will give players 1000 and 500 VC points respectively.
