"The Karate Kid" child star Jaden Smith is set to follow his father Will Smith's footstep to become a costumed crusador and star as the teen superhero "Static Shock" for an upcoming Warner Bros. web series.

The news is mistakenly revealed by the "Walking Dead" star Tyler James Williams during a Comic Con interview,  in which he said that since there are not many young black stars, it will be great to see Will and Jada Pinkett Smith's son in the role as "Static Shock."

The latest slip of information by Williams has put a confirmatory seal on the rumour buzzing since October last year that the 16-year-old "After Earth" star is being considered to be cast in the much awaited Warner Bros. remake. However, the news is confirmed neither by Warner Bros. nor DC Comics yet, Daily Mail reported.

It was reported earlier that Warner Bros has been developing a live-action digital series based on the comic book character with "DJango Unchained" producer Reginald Hudlin. "Static Shock" was originally created in 1993 by Dwayne McDuffie, Robert L. Washington III, and John Paul Leon for Milestone Comics, which was meant to increase representation of African-American creators as well as characters.

The comic character Static, whose real name is Virgil Hawkins, was adapted into an animated TV series in 2000.  In the web series, Jaden will showcase the role of an African-American student, who was exposed to an experimental mutagen, leaving him with the power to control electricity, Comic Book reported. No other info about the plot or the release date of the action flick is available yet.

While, the elder Smith is currently busy filming his role as the assassin Deadshot in "Suicide Squad," Jaden is exercising his acting and musical skills, as he recently performed alongside his sister Willow Smith, 14, at the AFROPUNK music festival in Paris on Sunday.
