"Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star Khloe Kardashian is facing huge backlash on social media after she posted a picture of herself wearing a niqab on Instagram on Tuesday.
"Habibi Love," wrote the star to caption the picture in which her hazel eyes are only visible and she is entirely covered in a black coloured cloth,covering the face as a part of the traditional abaya. It seems that the 32-year-old star has confused Habibi, which means darling with hijab, a loose cover-garment that the Muslim women are supposed to wear to cover themselves.
As a matter of fact, most women in Middle East countries cover themselves completely when in public. However, the restrictions are not implied on foreigners and tourists, E! News reported.
As soon as the picture of the reality TV star became viral, Kim Kardashian's sibling came under fire for disregarding a cultural symbol for her own commercial interests. Many online users have slammed Khloe for playing with the fire here as apart from having releigous importance, niqab is also deemed as a weapon to suppress women in Muslim countries.
Khloe's attempt of flaunting the hijab as a fashion accessory is not appreciated by the local youths. "My sister wears the niqab and she gets vilified daily. you can wear it and it gets sexualised and praised," commented one of the Instagram users on her post, Us Weekly reported.
Apart from getting hateful comments, the reality TV star is also getting some support on the social media. Some fans are rallying for her saying that Khloe wearing a niqab is nowhere offensive and she is just showing respect to the country.
While on her short trip to Dubai, Khloe also became a hairstyle model for a day for her good friend and regular glam squad member, Jen Atkin, during the Mane Addicts seminar on Monday. The duo reportedly stayed in $8,167-a-night underwater suite at Atlantis, The Palm Hotel from where Khloe posted a short video clip on Instagram, showing the floor-to-ceiling view of a majestic aquarium inside her room.
