A trailer of Ridley Scott's upcoming action sci-fi film "The Martian" starring Matt Damon has been released and it received positive feedback from astronomy experts.
As per NBC News, the trailer looks action-packed and realistic. It also received praise from astronauts and physicists, as the movie suggests research and attention to detail.
The new trailer featured a manned mission to Mars, which faced a fierce storm. Astronaut Mark Watney played by Damon is assumed to be dead after the storm but actually survives and finds himself stuck and alone on the Red Planet.
With only limited supplies, Watney has to utilize his humor and guts to let Earth know that he is still alive. Watney's resourcefulness is evident in the trailer, showing his ability to grow a plant and create a communication system to Earth.
Aside from Damon, Scott's "The Martian" stars Jeff Daniels, Chiwel Ejifor, Kristen Wiig, and Jessica Chastain.
Chastain also talked about her role as mission commander Melissa Lewis in an interview with People, where she said being a female commander is a "very big thing."
The actress also mentioned her favorite scene in the upcoming sci-fi film. For the actress, the best part of her role as the commander is the last sequence where she was in her full astronaut outfit.
Along with Scott as the film director, Drew Goddard is on board to pen the screenplay. Mark Huffam, Simon Kinberg, Michael Schaefer, and Aditya Sood are the co-producers.
"The Martian" is based on the novel authored by Andy Weir and it is slated to premiere on Nov. 25. Watch the trailer here:
