The upcoming fifth season of "Switched at Birth" could potentially see one of its lead characters getting pregnant. Actress Vanessa Marano, who plays the role of Bay, recently talked about the life-altering twist in the upcoming installment.

In the premiere episode, Bay and Daphne will continue to struggle with their respective lives. In season 4, Bay ended her relationship with Emett after the latter told her that he no longer has feelings for her.

Meanwhile, Daphne continued to struggle with her grades and the possibility of her not going to medical school because of her condition.

According to Ecumenical News, the problems of Bay and Daphne will not come to an end in season 5. In fact, one of them will be pregnant.

In an interview with Hollywood Life, Marano teased her character or Daphne's possible pregnancy. According to her, ABC Family will tackle pregnancy in such a way that could shock fans. She added that if fans were already surprised with the rape storyline, they have not seen anything yet until they see the episode that will tackle pregnancy.

In season 4, Bay was raped by Tank and fans are now speculating that she could be pregnant with the latter's baby. Now that Emmett is gone, there is a possibility that Tank, who has always liked Bay, will be open to sharing the responsibility. On the other hand, there is also a possibility that Bay was impregnated by Emmett.

"Switched at Birth" season 5 will premiere on ABC Family on Aug. 24.
