San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick had recently been the subject of many trade rumors. One of the noisiest in the bunch is that he will be shipped to the New York Jets in 2016, according to ESPN.

Apparently, if the Niners', and in particular Kaepernick's, struggles continue this season, then the four-year veteran may surely be out of the team next season.

The Jets are allegedly waiting enthusiastically as they are said to be sick and tired of Geno Smith and his effectiveness. Smith's win-loss record during his two years in service are a disappointing 8-8 (2013) and 3-10 (2014). It does not take a genius to see that Todd Bowles is looking for someone, or anyone, to man his team in the middle.

Bryce Petty is not any good as well. New York badly needs an upgrade at quarterback and the former Nevada standout is one of their hopeful wishes.

However, they may have to stick with Smith for now and wait one more season before they can pursue Kaepernick.

San Francisco also had a bad 2014, with a middling 8-8 win-loss record to boot, yet they still signed Kaepernick to a six-year, $114 million extension. He would definitely not be traded this year as that would damage the team $20 million in dead money, which should be a blessing in disguise for him to try and lift the Niners out of its recent mediocre performances if he wants to stay a Niner.

It was also speculated that the mass exit of talents due to trades and retirement this offseason could push Kaepernick out of the team as new coach Jim Tomsula may try to build a new roster from scratch, as per Bleacher Report.

Even with his six-year deal, Kaepernick's future does not look so bright in San Francisco.
