Downey Jr. and Evans will both start in "Captain America: Civil War," where Holland will also make a cameo as the new Spider-Man. The actor's standalone film is set for release sometime in 2017.

Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Holland beat 1,500 other actors who auditioned for the part. Towards the end of the selection process, the producers narrowed their decision down to Holland and Charlie Rowe.

Additionally, Holland reportedly screen-tested for the role in May and there are news that he will be sharing some scenes with Iron Man in "Civil War" so his chemistry with Downey Jr. needs to be really strong. After the producers noted that the actor was promising for the part, they reportedly asked him to screen test again this month before finally confirming the news.

"Spider-Man Reboot" will be directed by Jon Watts and will be produced by Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal. Feige and Pascal also held meetings with different directors before they ended up choosing Watts. The latter directed the upcoming film "Cop Car," which will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.
