There is no assurance that Microsoft will give the go for a Surface Pro 4 release date this 2015 as Microsoft watcher Paul Thurrott said in a new blog that to date, the tablet's existence remains a big question mark.

"There is absolutely no evidence that Surface Pro 4 even exists, let alone that Microsoft is planning to release it anytime soon," Thurrott wrote. The veteran tech journalist is well-known for monitoring the Windows universe.

But in the same blog, Thurrott allowed that the absence of any traces on the Surface Pro 4 doesn't mean that the device is just a myth. He advised that fans hold their breath until July 29 then make their call afterwards.

July 29 is the start of the Windows 10 free upgrade and many are expecting that to best showcase the power and capabilities of the new operating system, Microsoft will finally reveal it next flagship tablet that will bump off the more than 1-year old Surface Pro 3.

Past that point and Microsoft remains silent on the Pro 4, Thurrott believes that fans should look beyond or actually look back and seriously reconsider the Surface Pro 3. He noted that the Pro 3 was actually refreshed and buyers have wider options whether they are on a budget or just want to relish on the raw power of the device, no matter the price.

For maximum might and performance, shoppers might be tempted by the Intel Core i7-flavored Surface Pro 3 but the Core i5 will definitely fit the bill if the search is all about capabilities that will not break the bank at the same time. For most users, the Pro 3 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage memory is the best buy at it only requires a cash setback of $1300, Thurrott said.

Even better is this same Pro 3 variant, he added, is lined up for a free bump up to Windows 10 once the software becomes available at the end July. That would definitely sweeten the deal as the device will practically become the Surface Pro 4 - the specs, the features and for the most part, the basic build and design.

So  even as the rumored Surface Pro 4 release date is already delayed, Thurrott recommends waiting just after the July 29 Windows 10 debut for the device and if it is a no-show on that day the Surface Pro 3 is certainly the next best thing or even better. There'll be no regret in picking up the Surface Pro 3-Windows 10 combo, the blogger assures.
