Even as the newer device, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is no match to the iPhone 6 in terms of sales performance. Since the latter was released in September 2014, it proved to be and is continuing to prove the juggernaut that experts pegged it to be.

But for long-time Android fan Antonio Villas-Boas, a dogfight between the two flagships will be readily won by the Galaxy S6. In a review he wrote for Business Insider, Villas-Boas revealed that he both used the S6 and the iPhone 6, actually fell in love with the latter too but eventually decided that Samsung made the better device.

His review pointed to four reasons why the Galaxy S6 got the better of iPhone 6:

Stunning display specs

Villas-Boas thought that the 5.1-inch screen profile of the Galaxy S6 hit the sweet spot - not too big like the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus and not too small like the 4.7-inch iPhone 6. And the S6 screen quality is simply stunning, Villas-Boas said, adding that when compared to iPhone 6 the former's display "was brighter, more colorful and sharper."

The reviewer, in fact, admitted that the main reason he went back to the Galaxy S6 after two weeks of testing the iPhone 6 was when he discovered that Samsung's work on its current hero phone - in the display department at least - is unmatched by Apple.

Better photo camera capture

The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus are regarded by many as the best pair of camera smartphones to come out in 2014. Villas-Boas agrees but in 2015, the Galaxy S6 dethroned the pair. Face to face, the iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6 are nearly equal but Samsung's has a slight edge.

"Both phones take exceptional photos, but the iPhone takes pictures in a 4:3 aspect ratio, which means they have a somewhat squat, narrower field of view compared to the Galaxy's camera, which takes pictures in a 16:9 ratio," Villas-Boas observed.

Better call quality

As the iPhone 6 and the Galaxy S6 are basically phones, the review gave weight to their basic function - the call feature. During a call session, Villas-Boas attested that the sound emitted by the S6 was clearer and sharper.

The iPhone 6, on the other hand, delivered muddy and hollow sounds, the review said.

Android edge

Finally, his choice of the Galaxy S6 as the better phone over the iPhone 6 is mostly because of the Android operating system, Villas-Boas said. While he would preferred that S6 is installed with a pure Android version and no TouchWiz skin, the operating system on the device still allows a great deal of personalization options and better implementation of the notification features.

On these two respects, the iPhone 6 fell short and that is because of iOS 8. However, Villas-Boas also clarified that the choice of mobile platform is more on preference, meaning what runs on the Galaxy S6 is not exactly more superior than that on the iPhone 6.
