Over the last few days, some Samsung and HTC smartphones have been getting Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and Android 5.1 Lollipop updates. Give below is the Android 5.1.1 and 5.1 Lollipop release news for Samsung Galaxy Note 4, S5, S6, HTC One M7, M8 and M9.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4

The electronics manufacturer Samsung has not declared plans to introduce Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to the Galaxy Note 4. However, according to reports, the Android update is available to some users of Galaxy Note 4 in Russia.

Earlier, the tech publication reported that the company is soak-testing the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for the Note 4. At present, the Galaxy Note 4 is running on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop with many U.S. Carriers.

Samsung Galaxy S5

Last month, the US carrier T-Mobile began rolling out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to the Galaxy S5. However, there is no information from Verizon, Sprint, AT&T regarding when they plan to update their Galaxy S5 to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

Samsung Galaxy S6

T-Mobile has rolled out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on the Samsung Galaxy S6. The Lollipop update addresses bugs that include the camera LED flashlight problem. Also, users can expect improvements to the fingerprint scanner.

HTC One M7

According to a GeekSnack report, there will be no HTC One M7 update to Android 5.1 Lollipop. The report added that the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop is the final software update that HTC is sending out to users, with Sense 7.0 arriving later on with some performance enhancing updates.

HTC One M8

In April, HTC UK said that HTC One M8 owners in Britain will get Android 5.1 Lollipop update in August this year. There was no mention of a widespread North American and European release.

According to reports, India has got the Android 5.1 Lollipop for the One M8. The information seems to be confirmed by owners who downloaded the firmware. This appears to be limited roll out, as other Asian regions have yet to get the Android update.

At present, there is no information from HTC regarding when U.S. users will begin receiving Android 5.1 Lollipop for the One M8.

HTC One M9

As of now, Sprint's HTC One M9 and the Developer Edition HTC One M9 have got the Android 5.1 Lollipop update.

There are many noticeable improvements, GottaBeMobile reported. These include camera enhancements, temperature management optimization, battery life enhancements, data performance improvements and call drop improvements.

Other U.S. carriers have yet to announce when they plan to roll out Android 5.1 Lollipop. Owners who have contracts with these U.S. carriers will require to wait patiently for now.
