After winning "Dancing With the Stars" season 20 with partner Val Chmerkovskiy, Rumer Willis has snagged the role of the sexy siren Roxie Hart in the Broadway musical "Chicago."

The attractive and curvaceous actress is not a novice in the Broadway world. She has appeared in the off-Broadway production, "Love, Loss And What I Wore."  The 26-year-old daughter of Hollywood royals Bruce Willis and Demi Moore has showcased her acting skill in film projects that include "Now and Then," "The Whole Nine Yards," and "The House Bunny," among others.

The former child actress has also made a splash endorsing major fashion brands. Venturing into dance competition via the high-rating "Dancing With the Stars" has earned Rumer the adulation of fans and praises of dance experts. Rumer's dance show partner Chmerkovskiy described her dancing as springing from a natural ability and passion. As Rumer's mom stated in an interview, "It has everything to do with who she is."

Rumer's big foray into Broadway is slated on August 18 at the Ambassador Theatre in New York City. She will have an eight-week limited engagement run that will wrap up on Oct. 11. 

Some of the actresses who have played Roxie Hart on "Chicago" on Broadway were Liza Minnelli, Melanie Griffith, and Michelle Williams, the former member of Destiny's Child girl group, Us Weekly reported. Renee Zellweger played Roxie Hart in the 2002 film adaptation.


Rumer could not contain her excitement about her next big break of portraying Roxie on Broadway, as she wrote in her Instagram account.

In other news, another Willis is slated to appear on Broadway. Rumer's father, Bruce, will have his turn in the stage adaptation of Stephen King's "Misery" which has a playdate on October 22 at New York's Broadhurst Theatre, E! News reported.

Family, friends and fans of Rumer are thrilled with the way her career has panned out. Rumer herself has described her journey from "Dancing With the Stars" to Broadway as magical.
