Samsung appears to be making sure that the Galaxy Note 5 on release date will be far better than the Galaxy S6. Come the 5th-gen phablet's unboxing time, it is said to correct a huge mistake that slowed down the S6 a bit.

The Galaxy Note 5, according to SamMobile will debut with 32GB built-in internal memory and it is quite expected. But the same report noted that the device will also feature a slot for extra memory, specifically for a microSD card of up to 128GB.

The move, if true, will mark a major backflip on Samsung's part. The South Korean tech giant has opted to ditch the extra memory option for the Galaxy S6 saying that the decision is for the technical enhancement of the smartphone. But the S6 lacking the card slot has disappointed Android and Samsung fans alike.

While the Galaxy maker seems unwilling to reverse the course it has set for its flagship devices - no memory slot for the Galaxy S6 as well as for the Galaxy Note 5 - there were signs that came out recently that say the company is softening on its position. One solid evidence is the soon to come out Galaxy S6 Plus.

The S6 Plus is basically the Note 5 sans the S Pen stylus. It is likely, according to BGR, that the phablet-size device will be unpacked having a microSD slot. If true, then such development could pave the way for the same feature on the Note 5.

The SamMobile report was based on an internal Sprint document, provided by an insider, which stated that the Galaxy Note 5 with model number SM-N920P is headed to the U.S. telco and with the following specs:

-          Android 5.1 Lollipop

-          Camera combo of 16MP on rear and 5MP on front

-          Bluetooth 4.2

-          Quad HD display, likely in Super AMOLED and 5.7-inch profile

-          And 3GB of RAM

BGR has noted that the listing on the Note 5, which also will come to AT%T, is likely a placeholder for its Sprint debut so some of the specs could be amended on launch date. The Galaxy Note 4 already has 3GB RAM on it so it is expected that the Note 5 will upgrade to 4GB.

It should be noted too that while the chance is high that the next-gen Samsung flagship phablet will have a memory slot, it was not mentioned in the SamMobile report if the back cover can be peeled off. That would mean that Note 5 remains not in line to feature a removable battery.

On the question of release date, the latest word from Business Korea indicates that the Galaxy Note 5 intro is scheduled August 13 with the actual rollout to follow shortly, likely within or right after the 2015 IFA Berlin trade show that kicks off September 1st.
