The success of award-winning singer Chris Brown's concert in Manila on Tuesday was marred by the last-minute release of a hold order by the Philippine government that prevented Rihanna's former partner from leaving on Wednesday morning.
The order not only barred the 26-year-old singer from boarding his private jet for Hong Kong but also affected the Asian leg of his ongoing tour. As a result, Brown failed to hold on Wednesday night his Hong Kong concert.
Brown's failure to show up for a New Year's Eve concert at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan Province led a Filipino concert promoter to seek the help of the Department of Justice's Immigration Bureau over the contract dispute, reports CNN. The local promoter claims Chris owes them money, while Brown tweeted that it is the result of a misunderstanding between the promoter and talent agent Phil Casey which he hopes would be resolved soon, reports Philly.com.
Otherwise, he could face the same issue in Hong Kong and possibly affect his next scheduled tour stop in Jakarta for a Saturday night concert at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition hall.
Bad luck seems to be hounding Chris, whose aunt was locked inside a closet last week by armed men who burgled him house in Southern California.
Or is his past catching up with the R&B singer who has a bad boy image?
After his Artist of the Year award from Billboard in 2009, Brown assaulted his girlfriend then, Rihanna, inside a Lamborghini on the eve of the Grammy Awards, resulting in the singer required to attend domestic violence classes for one year and render 180 days of labor-oriented services.
Several more incidents followed, involving rapper Drake, a woman in Anaheim, a hit-and-run victim in Los Angeles and another person who accused Brown of felony assault in Washington. He tested positive for marijuana and entered rehab in 2013. However, even in the rehab, Chris got into trouble and was kicked out after he broke the window of his mother's car during a family session.
A repeat of the same pattern of behavior the next year led to his arrest and detention in LA until he was released in June 2014.
After Indonesia, Brown is schedule to have concerts on July 27 in Tel Aviv and July 28 in Cyprus.
