Leaked images of the OnePlus 2 smartphone were reportedly leaked from the wireless regulator Tenaa, China's equivalent of the Unites States' Federal Communications Commission. The leak came in just days before the official announcement of the device scheduled on July 27.
According to First Post, the OnePlus 2, based on the leaked images, looks similar to its predecessor. One glaring update is the addition of the Home Button located at the bottom center of the device, a new feature that sparked speculation of an alleged fingerprint scanner. When the device was unveiled in June, OnePlus claims that it will be faster than Apple's iPhone.
Among the confirmed specs of the OnePlus 2 smartphone is the Snapdragon 810 V2.1 chipset from Qualcomm. The chipset, which powers the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro and Sony Xperia Z4, boasts and Adreno 430 GPU clocked at 630MHz. Qualcomm has made significant improvement to remedy the overheating problem that plagued the original Snapdragon 810 chipset.
According to Engadget, additional specs include a 4GB RAM, 13-megapixel rear facing main camera, USB Type-C support, dual-SIM capability and a 3,300mAh. Base on the leaked photos, the OnePlus 2 will no doubt sport a full metal chassis.
The new flagship smartphone from OnePlus will boast a 5.5-inch Quad-HD display with 1440 x 2560 resolution. As for the device's operating system, it will run on an Android-based mod called OxygenOS.
OnePlus is planning to launch its flagship device in what the company claims to be the first ever Virtual Reality product launch scheduled on July 27. The company also hinted that the OnePlus 2 will fetch a price tag around $322 and $450.
