Owners of the LG G4 flagship smartphone will be pleased to know that they can now gain root access of their devices. Safe rooting is now an available option for devices sold by Verizon and T-Mobile as well as international versions of the phone.
The new rooting options was developed by a team of Android developers from XDA. The team is composed of four members using the handle autoprime, IllegalArgument, thecubed and jcase.
The team claimed that they were able gain root access to the LG G4 since June. However, they thought the method used in order to gain root access was unsafe for the general public so they decided to hold it back. The team only decided to publicize their discovery when they were able to create a much safer route.
According to Android Community, the devices that are covered with the safe steps include the Verizon VS986 11A version, T-Mobile H811 10H version and the H815 10C models for the international models.
The new rooting system is called Low Effort Root and it involves flashing a pre-rooted image into the device. This means that users who want to root their device needs to download a system image file reported to be around 1.5GB. Developers said that the file is pretty large but the download is worth it especially after successfully rooting their devices.
Along with the new rooting tool, the team from XDA also released a recovery tool called Team Win Recovery Project and is currently available for T-Mobile devices.
The LG G4 rooting tool along with the recovery tool can be download in the XDA website for free. The team behind the project also released an easy to follow steps in order to guide users in rooting their devices.
