Tech giant Microsoft recently announced its acquisition of Texas-based company Incent Games. The company is known as the main proponent of sales gamification platform called FantasySalesTeam.
As the name suggests, FantasySalesTeam is a company that organizes online contests that are similar to those found in fantasy sports. The platform has a long list of clients that include Siemens, Comcast, Michelin, GuideOne Insurance, HP, Wireless Zone and UPack, according to Tech Crunch.
Microsoft is planning to integrate the new platform into its own Dynamics CRM product line. The company is also looking for other possible application of the newly acquired platform. Additionally, it will continue to support other non-Microsoft CRM platform.
Microsoft made the announcement on its official blog saying, "We believe that motivating users of Dynamics CRM to focus on their most important metrics while simultaneously increasing usage and adoption can help drive tremendous impact on our customer's success."
Microsoft added that the acquisition was mainly driven by the success of FantasySalesTeam. The company cited some case in order to provide more insight. Microsoft pointed that Service Corporation International directed the program with around 130 reps and compared their performance to a group compose of 700 reps. FantasySalesTeam was able to close 88 percent more deals and averages 213 percent more on contract value.
Another cited example was from Wireless Zone which saw a total sales increase of 176 percent with its specific product sales hiking to 35 percent and a total increase in profit of about nine percent. These numbers were recorded in just the first month the company used FantasySalesTeam.
FantasySalesTeam was founded in 2014 and since then it has raised $1.4 million from investors including Marvel Venture Partners, ATX Seed Ventures and Central Texas Angel Network. Additional, the company did not disclose the terms behind the recent Microsoft acquisition.
