The 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport was recently unveiled at the Bangkok Auto Show in Thailand on Aug. 1. The new midsized SUV will be the successor of the current model which has been in the market for more than seven years.

According to AutoBlog, despite being unveiled in Thailand, the new Pajero Sport will be sold in more than 90 countries around the globe. These include Russia, Australia, the Middle East, Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia which, based on industry data, is the biggest market for Mitsubishi. The company has yet to confirm whether they will release the car in the United States citing the reason that modifications required for the region will cost the company and is simply not feasible.

Mitsubishi is also making history by equipping the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport with an eight-speed automatic transmission, this is the first time a midsized SUV will be integrated with those specs. Additionally, an all-new Super-Select 4WD II system will use electronic controls with an added off-road mode and hill descent control.

No pricing has been released for the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. The SUV will be released in Thailand within the third quarter of 2015 while other markets will have to wait until 2016.
