Microsoft's newest operating system Windows 10 has arrived for customers, but is it worth the upgrade? Here are 6 reasons that will surely tempt you to upgrade to Windows 10.
Universal Apps
The Windows 10 operating system will run across all future Microsoft devices from smartphones, tablets and hybrids, to desktops and laptops. The advantages of this are:
1. Apps in the new Windows Store will run on any device.
2. Microsoft's 'Continuum' feature enables users to potentially connect tablet or a smartphone to a keyboard and monitor and use it like a personal computer.
Cortana
Cortana, the personal assistant for Windows 10, can now be found on laptops and personal computers - not just Windows Phones. Cortana will now enable users to control elements of their personal computer by using their voice. Clicking on the search section of the Taskbar will open up Cortana, and from there users can make Internet queries thanks to the universal search facility that incorporates the internet and their device. Users can get map directions, control their media, schedule appointments in their calendar and dictate reminders and notes.
Gamers
Microsoft is building in features to improve the experience in Windows 10. These include a new gameplay recording capability called PC Game DVR, the newest version of DirectX 12 and the ability to stream games from your Xbox One to your personal computer. Windows 8 and Windows 7 will never get access to DirectX12
Virtual Desktops
With Virtual Desktops, users can use the Task View mode to create multiple workspaces on their personal computer with ease and switch between them as if they were on different screens. In addition, users can arrange windows on their desktop using the Snap Assist feature.
Cost
The software company offers Windows 10 as a free upgrade to present users of Windows 8.1 and Windows 7, The Verge reported. This is a good deal because Windows 10 is expensive and 'Windows 10 Pro' and 'Windows 10 Home' editions retail for $199 and $119. Contrastingly, Windows 8 and Windows 7 have not been made free by the tech company following the release of Windows 10 and Microsoft has no plans to make them so.
Windows 10 Can Be Uninstalled
If users have upgraded their personal computer to the newest Windows 10 but don't like it, they can revert to Windows 8 or Windows 7 without any difficulty, according to CNET. Microsoft has built in an easy and simple process that only needs a few clicks to have the system roll back to a user's earlier version of Windows.
