Samsung usually unveil its flagship phablet at the IFA conference usually held in September. However, the looming release of Apple flagship devices forced Samsung to release its products earlier than anticipated. Many industry analysts say that the move from the South Korean tech giant is a strategy to lure potential customers away from Apple devices. Apple is scheduled to announce its new flagship devices in a major event schedule on Sept. 2.

According to New York Daily News, leaked photographs of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 shows that the device will have a modified S Pen. Additional specs include a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with 1440x2560 resolution and a pixel density of 519ppi. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

According to GSM Arena, Samsung will favor its own chipset to power the Galaxy Note 5 instead of a chip coming from Qualcomm. The Exynos 7420 has a 64-bit eight-core processor. The device comes in three storage variants; 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. All the three model comes in with 4GB of RAM. Samsung dropped the external card slot which means that storage expansion is not possible.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will run on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop platform with possible upgrade compatibility to the Android M once released. Samsung's Unpacked event on Aug. 13 will be simultaneously streamed through its website.
