"Scandal" star Kerry Washington recently opened up about the premiere episode for season 9.
In an interview with Extra TV, Washington said that she was surprised with how things went down between Olivia Pope and President Fitzgerald Grant in the premiere episode. The actress added that episode 1 is very special that is why fans need to watch it.
Meanwhile, series creator Shonda Rhimes spoke about the upcoming season and said that all of the characters' lives have been blown apart due to the events that took place in season 8. However, it seems that Olivia and President Fitz are doing so well because they still have each other, according to Deadline.
For instance, in season 8, the president of the United States threw Mellie out of the White House. In season 9, it seems that President Fitz will consider divorcing her for good.
In other news, there are also speculations that Quinn and Huck will no longer work together. To make things worse, the two will no longer be friends. In the past season, Quinn and Huck even hooked up at one point. Luckily, Quinn did not pull the trigger on Huck after the latter followed Rowan Pope's orders.
Additionally, fans also need to watch out for Elizabeth North, who seems to have other agendas. Portia de Rossi, the actress who plays the character, was recently tapped to become a series regular on the show. This could only mean that bigger things are in store for Lizzie.
"Scandal" season 5 will premiere on ABC on Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. ET.
