When Apple released a demo version of the iOS 9 operating system at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, it shows a split-screen feature. With the looming release of the iPad Mini 4, many analysts are speculating that the mini version of Apple's flagship tablet will also feature split-screen mode.

When activated, the split-screen feature allows user to run two apps simultaneously side-by-side. While this feature can be easily achieved by devices with bigger screen such as tablets, it gets a little bit tricky when presented on a smaller screened device.

According to CNet, Apple recently said that the split-screen feature will be available only to the iPad Air 2, the to the devices' powerful A8X processor and higher internal memory. The company rejected the possibility of integrating the feature in the less powerful and smaller iPad Mini.

However, a resource file taken from the upcoming Safari 9 browser shows that the iPad Mini will support a split-screen version of the browser. Additionally, a developer tool included in the El Capitan operating system features an option that allow developers to simulate an iPad Mini 3 to run a split-screen version of Safari.

Apple is scheduled to hold a major launch event on Sept. 9. Details of the event have been kept secret but there are speculations that the company is preparing to release a new iPhone as well as the iPad Mini 4.

Recent leaks reveal that the iPad Mini 4 will be thinner and lighter compared to its predecessors. Considering the latest report about a possible split-screen support, the device might also sport a new and faster processor, according to 9to5Mac.
