The New York Knicks are looking to fortify their backcourt as their current rotation seems to thin to compete for a playoff spot.

Based on their wish list, the Knicks are looking for more scoring and a better passing game. Jamal Crawford and Ricky Rubio are reportedly targets of the New York Knicks, according to reports.

Interest for Crawford of the LA Clippers was tweeted by Frank Isola of the NY Daily News who said: "The Knicks have expressed interest in acquiring Clippers guard Jamal Crawford, according to a source."

The Knicks have only one reliable scorer in Carmelo Anthony. Not even their summer acquisitions like Arron Afflalo would really qualify. So adding Crawford, who's a former Knick from 2004 - 2008 (and once scored 52 points in a game in Madison Square Garden), makes a lot of sense.

While they do need another scorer, another immediate need for the Knicks is a solid point guard. Ricky Rubio has been their target, even though they have fellow Spaniard Jose Calderon, he is already 34 and his best years have passed.

The other point guards in New York are Langston Galloway and Jerian Grant, and it's understandable why Phil Jackson wants an upgrade.

The Daily Knicks report that this possible trade might take some time. "Chances are, the union of Rubio and the Knicks is something that wouldn't happen until months or years down the road. In the near future, Minnesota Timberwolves exploring a trade would likely lead to Jose Calderon being a target-albeit with draft picks and young talent attached."

The Knicks need to build a package to execute this trade and he also needs to offer the Clippers some value for J-Crossover as they have refused previous offers. They do not have the luxury of having draft picks so this will be a challenge for the Zen Master.
