Recently, Google announced that the sixth iteration of the popular mobile operating system, Android, will be called Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but like all new Android flavors, this one isn't quite ready just yet.

Still, for those willing to try it out, you can get an early taste of Marshmallow on any Android phone.

The tech giant rolled out a third and final developer preview version that is installable on a select few Nexus devices, but also provided another option for other Android phone users looking to dabble in the experience.

Google's updated Google Now Launcher version 1.2 will allow users to get a glimpse of the new mobile OS before it becomes officially available for download. It features improved performance and brand new official wallpapers, as well as the new boot animation which were all pulled directly from the developer preview 3.

Unfortunately, it doesn't come with anything you can't find on the preview, according to Phone Arena. So it's nothing new.

The developer preview version does not come equipped with the Google Now on Tap feature, the vertical app sorting layout on non-preview ROMs, or any other significant features.

Those accustomed to using the previous launcher on a daily basis will discover that the app is pretty much useless in a real world sense due to it being incomplete.

Basically, tt won't give you a mouthful but will just give you a tiny nibble off that glorious Marshmallow.

Google's Android mobile operating system is very popular among tech-savvy users who like to tinker with their phones, in stark contrast with Apple iPhone users who are content with what is given to them out of the box.

The OS is highly customizable with loads of features and a plethora of different versions that users can download and install on their Android mobile devices.

Since Android was first unveiled in 2007, it has become commonplace to hear of users experimenting with different apps and ROMs to get the full Android experience.

For those curious to see what Android 6.0 Marshmallow is like, users are able to download the APK from APKMirror via Reddit here, and install it manually on an Android device.
