NBC's upcoming sequel, "The Blacklist" season 3 will focus on Liz (Megan Boone) and her bitter past secrets.
The series' third installment will unveil the fugitive's (Liz) past life as she goes on running away from the authorities after killing Tom Connolly (Reed Birney). In season 2, viewers became privy concerning the many secrets that Liz was keeping. It is now evident that she is called Masha Rostova and that she killed her father while defending her mother, a former Russian spy.
The creator of the movie, Jon Bokenkamp initially revealed that the main reason why Liz became an FBI profiler was her past life. At the moment, Liz is on the run with Reddington (James Spader), and the creator brings to surface that her expertise will be essential in moving ahead of the federal agents.
At some point, Liz's ex-husband, Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold), will assist her. Tom will reportedly help Liz as she faces Agent Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff), the new leader of the FBI unit.
NBC Entertainment's Robert Greenblatt teased that viewers should expect big changes for the next season. According to Zap2it, during a recent Television Critics Association summer press tour, the chairman indicated that there will be a shift in the storyline from the previous format and that this will invigorate the show.
Greenblatt said, "The trajectory of the story is great since it is a switch-up from what the format has been. Liz and Reddington are literally on the escape. It is going to revitalize the whole show. It is a different feel this year."
Meanwhile, The Washington Times reported that Reddington came back for an action-packed season to unveil more international corruption. The official synopsis from NBC shows that the first episode will feature a CIA analyst ready to go undercover. In "The Troll Farmer," the agent who is constantly at his desk will attempt to prevent a worldwide catastrophe by infiltrating the treacherous body of weaponry dealership.
"The Blacklist" season 3 debuts on NBC on Oct. 1 at 9 p.m. EST.
