Tech giant Google recently announced that it will release a new update for its Android Wear operating system. The update will introduce new and interactive Watch faces as well as built-in support for Google Translate.
According to First Post, the new update will allow users of smartwatches running on the Android Wear platform to install interactive Watch faces. The introduction of interactive users will allow users to easily pull up information as well as launch apps directly from the watch's face with just a single tap.
The update includes interactive faces such as Under Armour, Bits and Together. Under Armour allow users to access their fitness stats directly from their smartwatch's face while Bits allow users to program their smartwatch to pull up a specific information a glance.
On the other hand, Together allow its user to turn the face of their watch into a space for sharing. Google Play currently offers more than 20 interactive smartwatch faces, according to Tech Crunch.
Another major feature the new Android Wear update include is the support of Google Translate. Additionally, the Translate app on Android Wear works even if the user's smartphone does not have app installed.
Google Translate on Android Wear supports 44 languages. The app works by using the microphone embedded on the smartwatch. Using Google Translate is relatively easy, users only need to speak on the watch, flip their rest and the translation will instantly display on the watch's face. Additionally, Translate will also automatically recognize what language the speaker is using provided that it is supported by the app.
The new Android Wear update will be rolled out as an over-the-air update to all smartwatches running on the platform. Additionally, the update will add Wi-Fi support to the LG G Watch R.
