Anthony Bennett is already on his second team after two seasons and he's already being shopped. Is he a certified bust?
The NBA trade rumors continue to swirl for former first overall pick Anthony Bennett. Despite being a first overall pick, he has not made much of a case for himself.
He has been a trade rumor staple and the Minnesota Timberwolves are confirmed to still be shopping him.
According to a tweet from AP's Jon Krawcynzki stated: "As I've said in the past, Wolves would move Anthony Bennett for the right price, but there are no active discussions right now."
While players on a rookie contract is worth gold in the NBA because of their low monetary value, Anthony Bennett's status as a first overall pick places a $ 5.8 million price tag . For a career line of 4.7 points and 3.4 rebounds in 109 games, that does not sound like a bargain.
The former top rookie is still not drawing any interest but it was rumored that during draft night, the Wolves discussed a deal with the Celtics just to move up in the draft.
Even for a very low price, the Celtics did not budge. Is this confirmation that Bennett is a bust?
Not exactly-or not yet, says Sir Charles in Charge. It's too early to drop the gavel on Bennett. Perhaps as a first overall pick, even in a lean year like 2013, Bennett is not a justifiable choice but he could still be a serviceable NBA player.
"In his defense, the biggest reason why the Wolves want to move on from Bennett is not because he can't play in the NBA or because of his work ethic," contended SCIC. "Though we really can't rule those two things out for a third-year forward that hasn't had much playing time, but (it's) because he just doesn't really fit with this Wolves team."
This could be the last chance for Bennett, but he has to play behind Shabazz Muhammad and Adreian Payne, even Kevin Garnett. A trade would be best for him and the team.
