A steady set of rumor have been brewing on the tech community regarding the recently announced Meizu MX5 Pro Plus. The most recent of these rumors pointed to a possibility that the device will be powered by an Exynos 7420 chipset from Samsung.
According to Android Headlines, Meizu vice president Li Nan hinted in August that the company is developing a new line of premium smartphones. The vice president also added that they might completely ditch the MX Pro series although he did not specify whether or not the MX5 Pro will see the light of day.
A leaked image of the Meizu MX5 Pro Plus was picked up by several tech websites and reported that it is an upgraded version of the MX5 Pro. The report added that the Chinese company is also gearing up to release two new smartphones, both powered by the Exynos 7420 chipset from Samsung.
The leaked image suggests that the smartphone might include a fingerprint scanner embedded on its home button, a design similar to the one present in Max Pro 4. If the rumors are true that Meizu will release two device, industry analysts speculate that both will sport Quad HD resolution. Additionally, one model will sport a 5.5-inch display screen while the other one's display screen is speculated to be at least 6 inches.
Perhaps the most interesting of all the leaked information is the company's decision to use the Samsung Exynos 7420 system-on-chip (SoC), according to Phone Arena. This is a big change for a company that uses Qualcomm chipsets for several years. Many analysts said that the overheating issue over Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset has caused many smartphone manufacturers to switch over to Samsung Exynos.
