According to IGN, despite the overwhelming big size of the Mega Yarn Yoshi, the amiibo still retains the same functionality as its normal sized counterparts. This means that tapping the amiibo on a Wii U Gamepad while playing "Yoshi Wooly World," the Mega Yarn Yoshi will trigger a secondary Yoshi which can be played through that certain stage. Additionally, players can also save their favorite Yoshi design into the new amiibo figurine.

The Mega Yarn Yoshi will have a retail price of $39.99. A standard version of the amiibo figurine bundled with a copy of "Woolly World" will cost $59.99.

Nintendo also announced that it will release the much anticipated amigo figurine of the iconic "Pokémon" character Mewtwo on Nov. 13 in the US and on Oct. 23 in the European region. The Mewtwo amiibo will work in the same way as other amiibos released as part of the "Smash Bros." lineup. This means that Mewtwo will work just like any other fighter-based amiibo.

The recent amiibo release date announcement was part of Nintendo's huge lineup of games scheduled for 2015.

Nintendo of America executive vice president of sales and marketing Scott Moffitt released a statement on Nintendo's website saying, "Nintendo has games, amiibo and systems to satisfy all kinds of players, whether they're looking for back-to-school gifts or getting an early start on their holiday shopping. No one can match the quality or uniqueness of what Nintendo has to offer to the rest of 2015."
