Motorola Company launched a second smartphone that is as good as the Moto X Style flagship, the Moto X Play.Initially, it was unclear as to whether the new smartphone will reach the United States market.

There were speculations that the reason why Moto X Play was not in the Motorola's U.S. outlet was because of the long-established relationship between the Motorola Company and Verizon, which would result into a unique phone.

However, the Moto X Play will reach the U.S. as the Verizon's refreshed Droid Maxx 2 because of spec similarities, Android Police reported. There were photo leakages of a mid-size smartphone that matches the Moto X Play, but had Verizon and Droid branding. The phone is presumably Motorola XT1565 that will eventually hit the U.S. market as Droid Maxx 2.

Apart from the Verizon and Droid labels found on the smartphone, it was evident that the device sports the Snapdragon 625 SoC, has a 2GB RAM, a 5.5-inch 1080p screen display, and a 21-megapixel back camera. Furthermore, the device has a grey-on-blue color scheme and faint textured back eschewing the conventional black and red Verizon's mini-brand.

The new Droid Maxx 2 is similar to Moto X Play in terms of technology, inclusive of the huge 3630mAh battery, Gizmodo reported. However, a notable downgrade to the Droid Maxx 2 is its 8.14GB internal memory. Motorola's Moto X Play has either 16GB or 32GB internal storage capacity.

It is also likely that the Moto X Style, referred to as Moto X Pure Edition in the U.S., will hit the market as the new Droid Turbo 2. The only challenge is that Moto X has a universal SIM that will be compatible with Verizon, limiting chances of launching the smartphone as Droid Turbo 2.
