The NBA Trade rumors continue for the Toronto Raptors as they are a team with a need (power forward) and options available.
The Toronto Raptors have a void at the power forward slot which they failed to address. They acquired forward DeMarre Carroll from the Atlanta Hawks but they lost Amir Williams in free agency as well.
The current Raptors roster only has Patrick Patterson and Luis Scola at the position and it would be obvious that they are back-up options at best. Recently, former no.1 overall pick Anthony Bennett, now with the Minnesota Timberwolves was declared to be on the trading block (or still be on the block) and Raptors Rapture is exploring whether they should pursue him.
"The Minnesota Timberwolves have a log jam at the power forward slot and will likely look to move Bennett during this upcoming season. When examining Bennett's subpar NBA resume, he is probably obtainable without shipping out key assets. Perhaps a second-round pick and a filler salary could seal the deal."
It would be a stretch to say that Bennett is a starting power forward at this point, but it should be noted that he has lost a considerable amount of weight and performed well in the Pan Am Games playing for Canada. Playing for the Raptors would be a "homecoming" for the young UNLV standout.
Interest for Bennett is low at this point but the Raptors would do well to take a "wait and see" approach since the Pan Am Games would not be a good indicator of NBA performance.
On its part, Toronto does not display any urgency to make a move and they are playing the leverage game pretty well.
