Get ready for Video Music Awards on Aug. 26 to open with a knockout performance. MTV has announced that Nicki Minaj will open the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.
This will be the Minaj's third time performing at the VMAs, following her pre-show performance in 2010, a cameo during Alicia Keys' set for "Girl On Fire" in 2012 and, her "Anaconda" showstopper in 2014. As the rapper wowed the audience at last year's "Anaconda" performance, the bar for other performers is set high early on.
Minaj's Pinkprint Tour is currently making its way across the U.S., after multiple overseas performences and this VMAs performance comes in the midst of this super successful tour.
MTV teased the performance earlier today taking to Instagram; sharing an ultrasound photo featuring Jeremy Scott's newly designed "Moonman" in the place of a baby. Some fans speculated feom this picture that Minaj is pregnant with boyfriend Meek Mill's child.
"Night Is Still Young" singer will kick off the show joining a long list of performers including Justin Bieber, Mackelmore & Ryan Lewis, Pharrell Williams, Tori Kelly and a recently confirmed collaboration between A$AP Rocky and Twenty One Pilots. Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas will perform during the pre-show.
Miley Cyrus, will host the big show and Kanye West will receive the coveted Michael Jackson Vanguard Award. The MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday (Aug. 30) at 9 PM (ET).
