There is a rumor that Samsung Galaxy S5 may skip the Android M update completely.
According to Android Origin, it is a bit odd as Android M is supposed to be a major upgrade after Android 5.0 Lollipop for all the Android devices.
On the other hand, the Android M upgrade will however be available for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 as soon as it is released.
The Android M upgrade is expected to bring about a lot of major changes in the Android based devices. It will bring the brilliant feature of screen splitting, far better volume controls, and a superb theme support, among others, according to GSM Arena.
Samsung is yet to issue the reason behind Galaxy S5 completely skipping this major update. Mostly all other Samsung devices which are currently running on Android Lollipop 5.0, Android Lollipop 5.1, and Android Lollipop 5.1.1 are expected to get this upgrade within the next six months.
Other major tech giants like LG and HTC are also looking forward to upgrade their latest devices with this version of Android operating system. The formal list of those devices which are eligible for this upgrade is yet to be released.
The upcoming operating system upgrade from Google, Android M is all set to be released along with Google Nexus 5 2015 in the month of October. Google Nexus 5 2015 will reportedly be equipped with this latest operating system out of the box.
The developer's preview version of Android M was released a couple of months back, for the purpose of beta testing. The users who want to give this upgrade a test run can download this official developer's preview from Google's website and report back the experience to the company.
