"Halo 5: Guardians" developer 343 Industries has given some new details about an upcoming arena map for the game. Dubbed as The Rig, this map will put players on the Meridian planet.

The main ideal for The Rig is to achieve the balance between the layouts present in old "Halo" maps, while also considering the new movement system that will debut with "Halo 5: Guardians," 343 Industries stated via the official Halo blog, Halo Waypoint.

The Rig was even used to test out other weapons for tuning and abilities throughout the development of "Halo 5: Guardians." During the development process, Multiplayer Producer Chris Hands revealed that the team aimed to make use of the venue's foundation to keep what everyone had come to love about Meridian.

At the same time, the team had been continually improving the map layout and landmarks that can be identified by players in the game. This way, players will also be able to see the value of the setting as a giant facility, complete with all the surprises in between.

As a mining rig, the developer used an industrial mining platform as inspiration for the creation of the "Halo 5: Guardians" arena map. 343 Industries has released a few early concept art images of the planned Rig, which showed a big mining platform on wheels. This was then changed to a stationary venue, in exchange for allowing the drill to always and actively be mining.

The Rig also features a number of new levels, as the map is aptly called Towers. There are quite a few levels, including a main tower, lower dock and an Engine Two are. All of these areas have been tweaked to ensure that players' moves will be challenged every step of the way.

Apart from the new information on the arena map, there is also a new deal that players, especially hardcore "Halo" fans, can take advantage of. A new Amazon listing has been spotted for "Halo 5: Guardians" action figures made by McFarlane Toys.

These include action figures for Master Chief, Spartan Locke, Spartan Athlon, Spartan Tanaka, Spartan Fred and Spartan Kelly. What's interesting about these figurines, however, is the included DLC code. It appears that orders of the product will allow the user to get and unlock content in-game for "Halo 5: Guardians," Game Idealist reported.

There are no details yet as to what the DLC will unlock, but speculations state that this may be more of accessories and customization options, rather than additional maps.
