Los Angeles Laker Nick Young was not joking when he tweeted previously that he wanted to be a part of the Australian Olympic Basketball Team. He has actually started an official inquiry for whether him joining could be a realistic possibility.

This whole thing started when Nick Young tweeted on August 24 saying that: "Can I play for the Australia Olympic team", to which Basketball Australia, the official representative for Basketball in Australia (hence the name) replied back: "Hey @NickSwagyPYoung, only if you can bring the BOOM! #GoBoomers"

Nick Young has no actual ties to the largest island in the world, except for the fact that he is famously engaged to Australian born Iggy Azalea, who has recently become famous due to her rap music.

There is obviously serious doubts on whether this would pull through. One of the requirements Young would need for him to become a citizen would be that he lives in Australia for a certain period of time, something that probably will not happen because of his commitment to the Los Angeles Lakers.

"Swagee Dundee", as he would like to call himself if he were to actually make the team, would certainly help the development of the Australian basketball team, who recently qualified for the Olympics. There is already a handful of NBA players who play for the Australian team, most notably Patty Mills and Andrew Bogut.

Andrew Bogut commented on the entire situation, hilariously stating that "Yes and Iggy can rap the anthem....... #cantwait".
