Several live images, and a good-looking render of a rumored Nokia smartphone have been leaked online.
Approaching the final stretch of the year, Nokia seems preparing to relaunch its smartphone business in 2016 when its non-compete agreement with Microsoft would finally expire.
Heeding the call of millions of Nokia fans worldwide, the Finnish manufacturer is set to launch its first Android smartphone, as GSM Arena reported.
Not that it already released an Android-powered smartphone in the past. The Nokia X family, which was announced last year, run on Android, but Google services and most of its apps were restricted. As a result, users would have to settle to the mini app store Nokia and Microsoft came up with.
However, this time around, it seems Nokia will be releasing a true-blue Android device that runs on Google services, and features most if not all of the basic stuff that run on Android smartphones today.
Dubbed as the Nokia C1, the rumored Android device was previously expected as a flagship, but the report claimed that it packs midrange specs.
The Nokia Android phone sports a 5-inch display with a Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, an Intel Atom chipset, 2GB of RAM, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
Meanwhile, the alleged images of the device was leaked by CNMO, a Chinese news website wherein the renders were also posted. The leaked images show a design that is reminiscent to other Chinese-made smartphones from Xiaomi, ZTE, and Meizu, although the Nokia logo is stamped at the back.
As for the render, the Nokia C1 looks entirely different from the live images as the render depicts an iPhone-like build.
The Nokia C1 is set to be announced early next year, with a release date expected during the first half of 2016.
