Over 200,000 copies of the fourth installment of the Millennium series "The Girl In The Spider's Web" have been sold in the first week.


The fourth book, written by Swedish journalist and best-selling author David Lagercrantz, turned out to be a huge success. He has public events for "The Girl in the Spider's Web"  scheduled in New York on Sept. 15 and in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 16, according to WM Caction News 5.

Commissioned by the Stieg Larsson estate, the second most anticipated novel of the year, after Harper Lee's "Go Set a Watchman," is a reverent and warm homage to original Millennium trilogy.


As the new story starts, Larsson's has crafted the character of Lisbeth Salander as a rancorous, bloodthirsty, self-destructive, and yet amazing venerable girl.  She has developed the survival instincts during a petrifying early life.

Journalist Mikael  Blomkvist is still a messy fanatic, whose Stockholm magazine has been ebbed by his drinking habit and online competition. The novel leaves  the probability of the sequence to be continued. Reportedly Larsson is said to have originally imagined the 10 books in the series.

According to USA Today, only the third book in Larsson's trilogy, "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest,"  landed at number one, on June 3, 2010. The first book, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," eventually made it to number one after debuting at No. 34; "The Girl Who Played With Fire peaked," made it to number two.

The book was released on Aug. 27 and officially went on sale in 24 countries on  the same day and in the United States and Canada on Sept.1.  Reportedly, there are now more than 450,000 copies of the book in print in the U.S. alone.

The book peaked at number one on the Barnes & Noble bestseller list Sept. 8.The book is anticipated to debut at number one on both the USA Today and Indiebound bestseller lists on Sept.10.
