Roger Federer has defeated his compatriot, Stanislas Wawrinka, in the semi-finals of the 2015 U.S. Open Men's Singles event. Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic has booked a date with Federer in the final by defeating Marin Cilic in the other semi-final match.

According to the play-by-play match report by The Guardian, Federer took control of the match from the beginning and Wawrinka let his resolve slip the longer the match went on. His best chance to be competitive was in the first set, where he managed to score 4 points against the Swiss legend.
Wawrinka managed to hold his first serve but was immediately broken on his second serve. Federer never looked back from there. He delivered a flawless performance and buried nails in Wawrinka's coffin with every point.
Federer won the second and third set in increasingly convincing fashion. He is back at a US Open final after having been away for the past six years. "I'm serving very well and playing positive tennis ... and it seems to be working. I'd love it to work just once more this year," he said during the on-court interview.
Novak Djokovic [1] defeated Marin Cilic [9], (6-0, 6-1,62)
Reigning World Number One Novak Djokovic defeated his semi-final opponent in a similarly dominating fashion. He also took out Marin Cilic in straight sets. In contrast to Wawrinka, Cilic put up more of a fight, as the match went further on. However, that doesn't mean that he stood any chance of challenging Djokovic.
Cilic didn't manage to score a single game in the first set. He got one consolation game in the second set but he never really dented Novak's armor. According to Bleacher Report, Djokovic made an open era record by dropping only three games during the entire match. The complete decimation of his opponent was unexpected considering the fact that Cilic is the tournament's defending champion.
Djokovic will be facing federer in the Men's Singles final match on Sunday, Sept. 13.
