The highly anticipated update to the Apple watchOS was temporarily delayed due to some bugs found on the software. The watchOS 2 was supposed to be released on Sept. 17 along with the iOS 9 update, but Apple decided to delay the release of the smartwatch operating system update because a bug that could not be fixed.

Apple spokeswoman Amy Bessete assured Apple Watch users that the update will be available soon. However, she did not provide a specific time frame. She declined to provide information about what caused the problems.

An Apple spokesperson told Tech Crunch, "We have discovered a bug in development of watchOS 2 that is taking a bit longer to fix than we expected. We will release watchOS 2 today but will shortly.

The watchOS 2 is considered as a major update and Apple wants to make sure that everything is in order in order to prevent future problems from arising.

When Apple announced that it is working on the watchOS 2 update, the company promised that it will offer new features. The most important feature to be added into the operating system is to allow developers to directly access the Watch's sensors and seamlessly stream data from and to the iPhone.

 Other confirmed features of the watchOS 2 is expanded support for Siri, new watch faces, transit directions. The Watch will also receive an expanded Wi-Fi support especially when an iPhone is out of the device's range.

According to Sydney Morning Herald, the problems with the watchOS 2 will not affect the scheduled release of iOS 9.
