Samsung publicized their latest smartwatch innovation through Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic in a tradeshow in Berlin. Gear S2 and S2 Classic do not have significant differences when it comes to specs; however, only their looks can tell which the S2 is or the S2 Classic - Gear S2 appears to be a smartwatch that comes with apps and Gear S2 Classic seems to be a typical watch.

Alessandro Mendini, an Italian post-modernist designer, is the brains behind the stylish look of the smart watches. Distinctive between the watches are its round shaped interface that bears pre-installed apps which can be customized. These Samsung smartwatches is running the Samsung's Tizen operating system with older or Android 4.4 versions.

Gear S2 and S2 Classic have the capability to sync with any gadget that have 1.5 GB of RAM or even higher. These smartwatches can function even without a smartphone within the bandwidth, through its discretionary 3G connectivity that comes with voice capability through e-SIM card, Tech News World reported.

NFC Technology is included in these smartwatches, which is programmed to support Samsung Pay soon, as some enthusiasts speculated.

Both Samsung Gear S2 and S2 Classic have a casing thickness of 11.4mm and an incomparable 360x360 circular display unlike the Moto 360's "flat tire" design. Inside the Gear S2 model is a dual-core processor of 512MB RAM with 1 GHz confidential Samsung source. Samsung Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic allow its users to personalize their screen display, and both watches have a rotating ring that can minimize accidental navigation of apps.

One exceptional characteristic of these watches is the IP68 certification that makes Samsung Gear S2 and S2 Classic protected and resistant from dust and water, Slash Dot reported.

The specs and usage of the Samsung Gear S2 and S2 Classic were showcased in a hands-on press conference in New York.
