ABC's legal drama series "How to Get Away with Murder" continues to shock the fans with the gripping storylines set up in the second season's premiere episode starting with what happened to Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) in the ending scene. Listed below are the five characters of the show who could be Annalise's shooter in the season 2 premiere episode:
1. Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch). It has been insinuated in the ending scene of "How to Get Away with Murder" Season 2, episode 1 titled "It's Time to Move On" that Wes shot Annalise and he was running away from the scene of the crime. The motive: Wes has found out that his girlfriend Rebecca (Katie Findlay) is dead and Annalise has been keeping it a secret.
2. Bonnie Winterbottom (Liza Weil). The premiere episode of "How to Get Away with Murder" Season 2 has revealed that Bonnie killed Rebecca in Annalise's home/office basement. The motive: Liza Weil revealed in a Variety interview that Bonnie's relationship with Annalise will be kind of re-evaluated especially now that Annalise knows she killed Rebecca.
Weil further added that her character will desperately want to be back in the fold and be Annalise's primary person so she will do everything she can to prove herself. Bonnie's desperation to earn Annalise's trust could lead to another confrontation and eventually the shooting incident.
3. Detective Nate Lahey (Billy Brown). Annalise has framed her lover Detective Nate Lahey for the murder of her husband Sam Keating (Tom Verica) in "How to Get Away with Murder" Season 1. The motive: Nate could get back at Annalise because she has ruined his life and career in order to protect the people involved in killing her husband.
4. Eve Rothlow (Famke Janssen). Annalise Keating has explained in the premiere episode's ending scene that statistically if a person is going to be murdered, the killer will be someone the victim knows like an acquaintance, a friend, a family member or a lover. The motive: The case could be about a jealous ex since Eve and Annalise shared a romantic past and Eve is the death row attorney defending Annalise's lover Nate.
Series creator Peter Nowalk admitted in a TVGuide interview that he is excited about "How to Get Away with Murder" Season 2 because the upcoming episodes will reveal some stuff about the characters. The viewers will also find out about more about the HTGAWM characters' past.
5. The Hapstall siblings. Annalise was shot in the mansion of her clients Caleb (Kendrick Sampson) and Catherine Hapstall (Amy Okuda), the siblings are accused of murdering their adoptive parents. There is a possibility that the Hapstall siblings or one of them shot Annalise that night due to a disagreement over the case and the scene where Wes was running out of the house could be because he was chasing the shooter.
"How to Get Away with Murder" Season 2 will return with episode 2 titled "She's Dying" on Thursday night, Oct. 1, at 10/9c on ABC.
