The LG V10, LGs newest smartphone offering, arrived last Wednesday, and it is a bit of a puzzle to LG fans and critics alike.

Wired questions why the brand jumped straight to V10. Other oddities are the large "Be You" logo on the screen's top-right corner and the fact that there are two screens.

The second screen is a 160×1040 panel that floats above the original display where there is normally a front-facing screen or bezel.

The second screen, similar to the Galaxy Note Edge's side-mounted screen, acts like a ticker displaying the time, battery level and such, and it shows notifications without having to block the main screen.

There is no question that the V10 aims to impress with style.

The color range features engaging names like Luxe White and Ocean Blue, there are pleasing accent colors, an aesthetically pleasing textured back and what seems to be LG's unofficial signature rear-mounted power and volume buttons.

Juxtaposed against these aesthetic features is the fact that the LG V10 is solid, according to Engadget.

The silicon and metal combination gives the phone a rugged feel, and it is all around heavier and thicker than other smartphones.

It has also endured four 1-meter drop tests with minimal damage.

The V10 also surprises with its impressive spec sheet.

A true technology connoisseur would appreciate the Snapdragon 808 processor, 4GB RAM, 5.7-inch display featuring a 2560x1440 resolution, 3,000mAh battery, and the latest Wi-Fi and cellular tech.

One possibly easily-answered question is the V in the name. It could be video since this model was specifically designed to take incomparable shots.

The 16-megapixel rear camera is capable of 4k video in both 16:9 or 21:9 aspect ratios.

SD cards up to 2TB are supported by the phone, which has a removable battery, which means shooting can go on even when the batteries run out.

To true photographers, what could be more important is that photo and video shooting have manual options - the photographer is in full control of focus, shutter speed and ISO, among many other aspects.

On the technical front, audio monitoring is in-built and the phone offers two front-facing 5-megapixel cameras whose views can be combined into an extra-wide single shot.

Finally, many editing and filtering tools make the V10 the ideal cameraman's tool.

The V10 is set to launch globally on following months, and while it is set to impress, it is yet to be seen whether it can surpass the likes of Apple or Samsung.
